Why The Russos Are The Best Thing to Happen to the MCU Since Joss Whedon
UDON Entertainment, which produces a lot of game-related art books, is extending the deadline for submissions to its World of Warcraft Tribute Book until Jan. 31. The book, which will be similar to the company’s Street Fighter, Darkstalkers and Mega Man fan anthologies, will debut in hardcover this summer at Comic-Con International in San Diego and in softcover in the fall.
UDON’s Stacy King, who is coordinating the project, explained the deadline extension:
To be honest, we didn’t really need to extend the deadline – we’ve already gotten more than enough fantastic pieces from the original submission period to fill out an oversized art book! However, we’ve also been getting a lot of emails and messages from artists who missed the original submissions call in the pre-Christmas chaos, and were disappointed to only find out about the book with a few days left until the deadline.
As the coordinator on this project, I’d built a pretty big buffer into the schedule for reviewing and selecting art. We sat down with Blizzard [the publisher of World of Warcraft] and they agreed to let us steal a few weeks from that buffer to give artists an extended chance to submit. It’s going to make our job of narrowing down the final selection that much harder, but we really wanted to make sure that as many people as possible heard about the book and had a shot at participating.
So if you were thinking of sending something in but didn’t have time — or even if you’re just now hearing about it — now’s your chance. The guidelines and submission form are here.
Stacy sent along a bit of art to give us all something to aspire to; they were done by UDON for Blizzard, not for the tribute book
