awesome! I love how its broken up by publisher. nicely done!

Thanks for featuring my collection, J.K.!

Nice collection!

nice collection espically love that one batman poster

I notice you only had the first Y The Last Man trade. Once I read the first one I couldn’t buy the rest fast enough. Were you not a fan?

I agree with Yorick. Very nice and organized, but y’all need to expand the horizons a little bit. Get some more Vertigo and indie stuff in there.

I laughed out loud when I saw that framed art by John Romita Jr., sorry. The new 52 already made me scratch my head, but yeah….so nice collection, by the way.

I was talking about the Marvel Universe drawing but I think anyone could figure it out, anyway. He has a uhm……. very distinctive style.

@ fearitself, that drawing is by Nick Bradshaw. What is wrong with it? I think it’s great, and recently had it signed by him.

Didn’t you know Kris, dissing popular stuff makes many people feel special and rebellious!

Personally I like your Marvel poster – it certainly has every classic Marvel character in it (it has the original Baron Zemo, that’s enough for me.)

Nice collection of Marvel and DC trades as well. I like how you’ve covered the classics like Kirby and the Gene Colan Batman (did you have the Don Newton? I thoroughly recommend it! And the Gil Kane Superman trade) as well as the modern runs. Good to see a lot of action figures as well, which reminds me that I really do need to hunt down an OMAC and Kamandi to add to my own collection.

Thanks for sharing

I’m certainly not trying to diss the collector in question…

But aren’t these shelves and their contents pretty standard for the typical comicbook fan. I mean, these last few weeks’ worth of shelf porn makes my humble “guest bedroom-turned-fun room” look like a freaking comicbook-style Chuck E. Cheese by comparison.

Maybe I ought to send in some pics. Ha.

Love the Avengers poster. Any chance you can tell me the artist or, where did you get it?

That Bradshaw poster is a favorite of mine. Really extensive Marvel and DC collection, Kris! I especially like the Minimates shelf — the few that I have have a hard time standing up against a light bump. I’m always scared of putting a lot up in a row for fear of the domino effect. Thanks for sharing!

@Harlock999 — As far as I have seen, this column isn’t a competition. If you’ve got a nice room to show off, then please do so. But saying that you’re “not trying to diss the collector” right before dissing his collection isn’t the nicest thing in the world.

Thank you, Jamie. I don’t know what’s worse- that he thought it was a JRJR piece, or that he thinks it’s bad. Oh well! As far as those classic Batman collections go, they are a little pricey. I would love to own every one of them. I think my next one will be the Jim Aparo collections.

@JKMD- My Minimates do not stand by sheer force of will. It is merely a bit of Sticky Tack applied to each of their feet. The stuff is a Godsend for figure collectors!

i love that ed mcguinness superman piece. i want it. badly!

Fantastic collection, Kris! I love the way you’ve incorporated the company logos on your bookshelves, and I’m especially impressed with how beautifully posed your action figures are (Fantomex looks awesome). Breaking up the bookshelves with character-specific action figure shelves is a great look, also.

Great collection, lots of reading!

I agree with Harlock999 – the point of this column is to share your love of comics and collecting, not to try to outdo everyone who displays here. Some collections are modest, some are quite extensive, some demonstrate a particular taste in comics or art. All are interesting IMO. Sometimes I will see stuff I haven’t seen before (the mind still boggles that there’s a Devil Dinosaur statue out there – thank you Shelf Porn.). Sometimes I can get some pretty good advice on displaying or shelving comics. Sometimes it’s nice to just see someone who has a similar interest to mine. Other times I get to see a room that is so far removed from anything I’ve ever seen before ( someone had a dungeon setup a while ago ) that I’m truly amazed.

All good IMO

Actually I don’t agree with Harlock999 – it’s JKMD I agree with. Where’s the edit button when you need it?

Nice collection! Don’t bother taking some of the duechey comments to heart. Some people are just jerk stores that hate for no reason at all. I wish I was able to get a alot of those hardcovers before they went out of print. Jealous as hell!!!! Mwa haha haha

As great a collection as it is, the PEZ dispensers are the best part. :) only kidding but man… I love me some PEZ

great stuff! kudos to having some watain in your cd colledtion =)

As much as I love these, I wouldn’t mind Shelf Porn sometimes exposing the comic book’s more natural habitat: a disorganized mess; comic books everywhere, toys scattered, book-covers smashed, lying about, a bunch of empty, wrinkled comic sleeves…they showed that one unfortunate event where an earthquake had overthrown some guy’s nice collection, and I thought to myself, “Wow, that’s how my collection looks everyday.” And, you know, there’s nothing wrong with that.

No Tim Burton-inspired Batman figure or art? Got you started but didn’t stick with you?

@ WhosQuad- That Avengers poster was from a promotion that came with the Avengers Blu-Ray. Paid like $5 bucks for it. Sadly, I don’t know whose work it is. I’m sure a little google-fu could enlighten the both of us!

@ keith- Good eye!

@ ted- Sadly, no. It’s funny you mention it actually. I’m not really a fan of the Burton batman films anymore.

Excellent collection Kris!!! Let the nit pickers be though, Being like that is it’s own punishment. Keep up the awesome lifestyle!!!

Hey i noticed you had the entire Blackest Night run and on the spines they had the ring emblem of each Lantern Corps…but i noticed that Star Sapphire’s corps is missing…is there a book for that one?? awesome collection btw.

@ Mr.Majestic- Good question. More Sexism from DC maybe?

Great collection!

Im in total agreement with JKMD, shelf porn isnt meant to tbe a competition for best collection, or best organized! Its to show us fellow comic geeks your collection. Thats it. Btw how did that one troll poster think the artwork was by romita? You know he has a uhm, distintictive style? Ha ha.

Nice selection of books and figures, Kris!

Wow! Didn’t know the Morrison JLA trades lined up like that -Neat!

Thanks everyone.

Cool collection Kris.. and I right with you…Marvel.. Valentino’s Guardians of the Galaxy…please! =)

Again, I am in no way trying to say “wow, your stuff isn’t that great.”

But I thought the point of Shelf Porn was to show off the REALLY crazy stuff where people have turned their rooms into, as one poster pointed out, dungeons … or Dr. Strange shrines … or crazy Feng Shui statue-laden arthouses … or wall-to-wall G.I.Joe figures … or whatnot.

Two bookcases of hardcovers and some action figures, again, just seems pretty normal to me. Regardless of the collection itself.

But hey, please feel free to call me “douchey.” Hahaha.

I guess I just didn’t understand the point of this column… Sorry.

@Harlock999 – If the point of this column was to show off the really crazy stuff, I’m thinking we wouldn’t have much of a column to comment on. I can’t imagine that there are huge numbers of guys/gals waiting in the wings to show off pictures of their Dr Strange shrine or the like. There are a limited number of collections that go that far, and probably even less of those folks are willing to post pictures in an online forum to become fodder for the masses.

Limiting Shelf Porn to just those collections would get us maybe 1-2 articles a year. I’m perfectly happy seeing the ‘pretty normal’ collections that folks have enough pride in to take the time to organize, display, and take photos of.

@Kris Lyons – great collection! Thanks for sharing.

Nice collection.

There’s just one downside: too much Geoff Johns on your shelves.;)

Nice collection. But, I will never understand the whole trade paperback thing. It really seems like no one is buying books anymore or at least not the people who send in their pics for shelf porn. I have a ton of long box porn!

A+ on your Deadpool posing.

VOICEKILLER – Often submitters mention their closets full o’ comics but point out that longboxes don’t make for great pictures. I think my bookcases of trades look beautiful but if I ever submitted I must admit I probably wouldn’t include my filing cabinet of bagged-up comics, as it’s somewhat less so! When I read Shelf Porn I tend to assume people’s singles are just hidden out of sight somewhere.

i know exactly what you mean, i like trades, but i rarely buy them. i love the single issues. i have at least 35 long boxes and counting. in case anybody wants to sell their collections cheap, hit me up!
