“‘Image United’ is the best worst idea that ever existed”

Image United is the best worst idea that ever existed. … We overdid it. Image United should be respected for the experiment that it is, but loathed for the failure that it’s been so far.”

Rob Liefeld, during a weekend panel at Amazing Las Vegas Comic-Con, discussing Image United, the long-delayed six-issue crossover by the Image Comics founders and Robert Kirkman that hasn’t released an issue since August 2010’s No. 3. At the convention, Liefeld said issue 4 and 5, originally solicited for April and May 2010, will be released in 2014. “We should’ve done the whole thing first, but we got kind of excited,” he said. “And I apologize.”

Appropriate? Only 40 years olds even remember when backwards baseball caps were a thing.

Actually, it’s a project that truly sums up that early era of Image Comics. A lot of hype, promises, and possibility that went unfulfilled.

That said, I’ll totally still buy the rest of it whenever it does finally come out.

We should’ve done the whole thing first…

Ya think?

I’m glad I passed on this. My gut was telling me from the get-go that this was going to be another “10th” anniversary hardcover. There’s, simply, no excuse for a 4 year delay.

Does anyone even really care if Image United gets finished?

I don’t know why he’s apologizing. They successfully recaptured that old Image magic. I feel like a 14 year old kid again waiting for books that may never come. Ahh, memories. *cue the Streisand*

Reminds me of their 10th Anniversary debacle. Image could have been the number one company if they just got a damn book out on time.

Remember Image Zero? Bwa-hahahaha
