Deadpool invades this week’s Shelf Porn

shelfporn-tease-dp

Hello and welcome to Shelf Porn, where we take you inside one fan’s house to check out their collection of stuff. Today’s collection comes from Sharon in Illinois, who shows off her comics, art, statues and a whole lot of Deadpool.

If you’d like to see your collection featured here on Shelf Porn, check out the submission instructions.

And now let’s hear from Sharon …

*****

I love looking at everyone’s collections, and thought that it might be time I submit mine as well. Some of the displays were a bit awkward to find an acceptable angle, but hopefully everything still came out visible enough and not too blurry.

So the main room was set up with comic books and action figures in mind…

01

My husband and I both love comics, and I especially love the art of Skottie Young, so I took up a bit of space just for him.

02

03

The opposite wall we put the gems of our collection up on display.

04

I personally am a Deadpool fan, and so he dominates my figure collection and wall art…

The hardest part was figuring out what to do with our comics. We didn’t want to just stack short boxes, and professionally built comic drawers are both expensive and they don’t have a good way to show off the books to the world. So my husband modified a few things from Ikea and came up with some great comic drawers.

Lastly, while not on a shelf, I couldn’t submit a collection of Deadpool things without a picture of my favorite piece, haha.

Nice set up!

I am a huge deadpool fan as well and sold off my walking dead #1 at comic con to buy the vespa deadpool and x-force bowen one.

Being a Calgarian i love the spawn stuff, wish i could get my hands on some of the statues.

Again nice set up, very clean :P

Sharon,
If you see this comment, could you / your husband post details on the Ikea hack.
Also, what was the total cost for the build / how books it holds?

Great setup! Would you also happen to have details on the frames you used for the comics? I’d been saving the Skottie Young baby covers for a similar purpose, so I’d like to borrow your solution! :)

I love the set up and the collection. I second the request for your ikea hack. Can you husband do up a direction sheet and maybe cbr can share it with us all? I love how it looks and will be doing my own library soon.

love the love for the merc with the mouth espically the deadpool statues aiming their guns at lobo.

Man I love your Ikea hack, I myself am building my own short boxes out of wood and staining and lacquering them,

I just wanted to say that you are the first person to put a Sonic the Hedgehog comic on Shelf Porn, that is some major props to you.

Those shelves are awesome, what did he do to make those drawers? I love that solution!

The deadpool plush is awesome btw

that is a very nice setup!! It’s not often that the 90′s early 00′s get much love anymore, so, well done!!!

There appears to be quite a few requests for that ikea hack and I’ll throw my request in there as well!!!

Ikeahackers.net would love to see that!!!

plus comic lovers everywhere (and me) would as well!!!

Great room

Great stuff, love Skottie young.
Admin, where’s the shelf porn been last few weeks????
Don’t be skipping it!!!!!

Great set up. I would like to know a bit about the Ikea hack as well.

It’s been where it’s always been, Chilli sauce. You can find past ones here:

Loved your set-up! Cheers!

It’s my dream office!

Great collection Sharon! Thank you for sharing it with us!

What is the tall statue in front of the window?

I’m also interested in your husband’s IKEA hack. Ingenious! :)

Thanks for the comments everyone! The the comic setup from Ikea is actually insanely simple. There’s no real “hacking” involved because we didn’t really change any parts from the original concept, we just assembled them in a way they’re typically not assembled. I went ahead and made a post about it on my blog for easy reference for everyone. You can find that here… Admin, if you want to edit and throw that link into the original post that might make it easier for everyone to be able to see it. :)

And GaryEA, the tall statue in front of the window is a anatomical reference statue. My husband is a character artist and uses it for reference. http://www.anatomytools.com/male-figures-c6.php

Just shaw this Shelf Porn today. I love the comic shelve and was looking forward to the link to the post about how it was made. Sadly the link no longer works. Any chance there is a new link, or does anyone else know how to make this very cool comic display shelve?
