Chris Weston declares ‘Kurt Russell Week,’ poster fans rejoice

I still don’t know if this is a real thing, or if he’s gone completely unilateral on this, but I didn’t have a problem when Chris Weston recently declared it was “Kurt Russell Week.” In fact, I have Elvis playing on a loop constantly on the TV in my Winnebago. Yeah, that would be the same trailer with the Death Proof skull and lightning bolts stenciled on the side.

Weston seems similarly enamored with America’s Greatest Living Libertarian©, having designed a triptych of posters paying tribute to three of Russell’s iconic roles (“They’re a private commission for a collective of film poster fans,” he adds). Weston describes these pieces as “roughs,” a term which usually causes paroxysmic laughter among his peers. Or weeping.

The detail in these is amazing. Though Russel doesn’t quite look like himself in the Big Trouble in Little China print. It’s a shame, that’s the one I’d otherwise be after.

All of those look amazing and each one really captures the essence of the film and his character in it.

Although I enjoy these posters from all of his John Carpenter film collaborations…I cannot forgive Weston for omitting the one truly epic character from a Russell Carpenter team up………..ELVIS! …and Russell was still the best one to depict the King…..besides Bruce Campbell….lol

The Escape from New York and the Thing posters are gorgeous.

Shame they aren’t available for sale I’d scoop up those two in a heartbeat.

Wow, had a friend send me this link. I have a healthy appreciation for 2 of these movies. Some of the best “BAD” cinema life has to offer, not to mention the artwork is superb. I have to agree with Ramone on the Big Trouble one. Either way, very cool and lovely to look at. As an artist, I appreciate these.

@Sue

Or you could just download the pic here and go print it out at your local K-Mart for $1.

@John.

Downloaded :D

If given the choice, I’d prefer to support the artist and buy actual prints from him. Downloads will have to do.

Great job Chris! I can’t wait to get my hands on this.
