Laura Martin & Cully Hamner goofing for the camera

It’s been five years since I last attended Baltimore Comic-Con and 10 years since I attended my first Baltimore Comic-Con — and to see how much Marc Nathan and his crew have grown the event is astounding.

As much as I would love to photograph every creator in attendance, I lack the organization and time to effectively to do that. As it is, there are people I intended to photograph or thought that I had-  -but some combination of factors ended in failure in some instances (Carla Speed McNeil, Seth Kushner, Dean Haspiel, Barry Kitson, Ivan Brandon, Craig Rousseau and Mark Morales, forgive me).

My thanks to the creators who allowed me to photograph them.

It’s always cool to me how some artists almost look like the characters they draw. For example, Kevin Maguire could easily fit in with the JLI. :)

I went yesterday with my daughter and had a blast. Amanda Conner and Mark Bagley both spoke with my daughter about how they got into comics, and Conner did a great sketch right in front of her. Awesome experience!

Appreciate seeing the cool pics but you need a new camera. Was there a fog in that convention?

Jason–your fog theory is a good one. Much better than my “I used a smoke machine for dramatic effect”.

Seriously it is a combination of factors:
Bad photographer (me)
Camera phone
Strong overhead convention lights throwing off the light balance in many of my shots (the autofocus also fought me to try to focus on the oddest things in the shot)
Photo degredation as I refomatted the file sizes of the pics.

But bottom line yeah I definitely did not deliver great shots in some situations, but I hope folks can still enjoy them despite the quality inconsistency.

Next con I will try to avoid some of the missteps (and likely not use my phone ;) )

Thanks for the constructive feedback.

Thanks for doing this Tim! Sad I couldn’t make it to the show, and great to see all the creators who did.

I missed getting to catch up with you, Chris. At one point I was standing in line to meet a creator and the fellow in front of me was using an AdHouse bag, so you were there in spirit. ;)
