Welcome to Shelf Porn, your weekly look at a fan’s shelves. Today’s collection comes from Mike in Rhode Island, who shows us his many action figures, trade paperbacks and more.

If you’d like to see your collection featured here on Shelf Porn, check out the submission instructions.

And now here’s Dan …

*****

I’m a long-time comic reader from the early 80s to present. I also got into figure-collecting around the time DC Direct started producing its action figures and have since amassed a large collection of DC Direct, DCU Classics, Marvel Legends and Marvel Select figures.

About 10 years ago, I dropped buying most single issues and started trade-waiting, so most of my book collection is TPBs.

I display my collection in primarily two rooms at my house (per my wife’s request/requirement!) – in our home office and in our finished lower level. The living room, bedrooms, etc. are all off-limits!

That is absolutely incredible! That Alex Ross painting adds a nice touch. Well done!!

i am very envious of this. i did at one time had as much action figures but i had to way to display them the way i wanted. This is PERFECT! I salute you.

Love your collection !!! Going through your DC action figure collection was brilliant bringing back a lot of memories . It was awesome seeing figures that I had never seen before and now I am desperate to find some for myself ie Doom Patrol figures . Waiting for trades and hard covers really transforms a room into a very entertaining oasis unfortunately I must purchase my floppies to get my fix as quickly as possible . This usually ends up with me double dipping on beautiful hardcovers . Would love to see an overall photo of your 2 rooms to get a better idea how they unfold . Again awesome stuff , thanks for sharing

Can I come over and play?

My childhood dream! Fantastic collection!!!

that is amazing collection. espically love how you have all your figures grouped by teams or rogues including the bat baddies.

Wonderful. Just wonderful. Not only do you have an awe-inspiring collection, you’ve displayed it in the absolute best manner possible. Grouping everyone as you have gives such a rich visual experience and immediately calls to mind all the great stories featuring those teams/corps/alliances. Stupendous.

Also? It seems we have the same taste in Spidey villain figures :) I applaud you for not sticking to particular lines or ranges and, instead, merging releases from different times (even companies) to create an iconic whole.

Nice collection….How do you keep them dusted?

Amazing display. Color me Hulk with envy.

Very impressive, both the collection and the setup. Love how you have them grouped together

Amazing collection. I like how they are all grouped together…except for Hawk and Dove!

Ohhhh…I see what you did there. Spoke to soon. Good job. Would love to have a collection like that!

How about those blue platforms? Where’d you get them and are you pleased with them?

sweet collection. Probably the best figure collection that has been on here. Very jealous.

that room must be bitch to clean.

Great collection. Where did you get the stands that the DC figs are on. I’ve been looking for some for quite a while.

Great collection! Looks clean and shows your pride in what you focus on. Well done. Love it!!!

I also use those three tiered spice shelves to display my figures (You can find them at Bed, Bath, & Beyond). Best purchase I ever made. They allow you to display your figures so that you can actually see all of them. I know at one time several companies used to sell generic little oval platforms for individual figures. I don’t know if anyone still does. But those help too. Anyways, this is an awesome collection.

Awesome , love the legion of super heroes, great display.

Brilliant !!!!!…..i have a good selection but nowhere near your suburb collection……i also love the grouping of the figures and what you’ve done using the shelving………..but i also have to ask…………how do you keep them dusted…….well done…….

Best. Shelf porn. Ever

I’ve never considered starting a figurine collection…Till now. This looks amazing.

One of the best action figure collections I’ve seen. Thanks for sharing!

Amazed. This is the most complete DC/Marvel action figure collection I have EVER seen. Not to mention a fantastic collection of graphic novels. You have more Batman graphic novels than I do… So jealous. I especially love your… Oh hell, I love it all!

Question… What is your profession? You must either be making a 6 figure income or you are extremely poor! Inheritance maybe? I need to know how to change my life to be just like you!

Thanks for all the nice comments about my collection. I just realized I forgot to include one close-up of the shelf with the New Gods/Fourth World characters. You can see them in the top left corner of the 2nd photo.

A few have asked about dusting – about every 7 or 8 months i take the figures off one shelf at time and dust each shelf. The hand-held swifter also does a decent job on the figures as they are placed back – takes a couple of hours.

Sean, I do intentionally try to display the most iconic version of each character within the 6 to 7 in scale, regardless of the actual product line.

JH, the blue figure stands are from Mattel’s collector website, mattycollector.com. They sell boxes of 25 stands each.

Phil, I am a PR director for a large company, so fortunately I have the income to support this hobby!

Thanks again for the opportunity to share my collection.

Simply AWESOME!!!!!

Quantity vs Quality.
I didn’t see an vintage Corgi stuff or MEGO. I’d rather see a smaller collection of truly rare and interesting stuff, rather than whats for sale at the current mega comic shops.

Well, I suppose it wouldn’t be the internet if there wasn’t at least one negative comment, although I don’t see how any fan can look at that collection and not be impressed.

Shelf porn? Not without my Lady Death figure it’s not!

Just kidding, of course, though I do own one. Nice display, and great collection.

You’re so cool, Khan. We all wish we could be nauseatingly elitist contrarians, too.

Sorry Khan, I collect & display what I like. I can appreciate the nostalgia of Corgi and Mego, but I prefer the more modern sculpts and figuring out ways to arrange the character groups. That’s also why the vast majority of what on my shelves are “out of the box.”

What kind of stands are the DC figures on? Not the shelves, but the stands.

FanboyJim, they are DCU stands I ordered from Mattel at mattycollector.com.

Wow! That is one heck of a collection. Don’t know about you, but I would probably look forward to setting aside a day every few months to dust and clean and possibly rearrange that humongous collection.
