Duane in Calif. gets a piece of the action (figures)

DarkseidSixInch

Duane in Orange County, Calif. is a man of action — action figures, that is.

“I have always had toys, but growing up I couldn’t have nearly as much as I wanted,” he said. “… Now, when I want something, I seek it out furiously. Unfortunately, as I get older the collectibles that I want get more and more expensive.”

Check out his collection of action figures — Power Rangers, Doctor Who, DC Comics, Avengers and more — below.

Duane writes:

At 31, I am a relatively young collector. I have always had toys, but growing up I couldn’t have nearly as much as I wanted. My collection size has ebbed and waned, but after college when I made the mistake of selling collectibles it is only growing. Now, when I want something, I seek it out furiously. Unfortunately, as I get older the collectibles that I want get more and more expensive.

My tastes are pretty eclectic in what I collect, but I seem to go mostly for action figures. When it comes to exactly what I collect, it is not limited to just comics. I collect some random items like Doctor Who and Power Rangers figures.

PowerRangers

The majority of what I do collect is related to comic books, but when it comes to action figures I am pretty picky. I am particular about sculpt and build and even what accessories are included. While I still collect the 6 inch figures, I am slowly graduating to the sixth scale action figures (unfortunately, in my submission, I am leaving out my 20+ Star Wars 12 inch figures from Sideshow Collectibles).

Nice to see someone *else* got all the Blackest Night figures too. :-)

Great collection. I bet it is a pain in the a** to dust!

I’m jealous and I have quite the collection myself! Very nice work sir I tip my hat to you. But I’m not really wearing a hat so it’s really just the gesture…

Hmm I feel a post of action figure pictures coming on.

Thanks for sharing,
~Steve

nice to see not only several of the other lantern cores built. but also those black lanterns. plus love that cyborg figure next to that super power card

Is it not called Shelf Porn anymore?

Even if this column isn’t called “Shelf Porn” anymore, a column name would be helpful for those of us that seek this feature out.
Maybe something like “Collection Connection” or “Show Us Your Stuff”. I don’t know…

To the collection, its neat to see someone really into their niche, but I’d like to have seen a general shot of the room. I like seeing the close up detailed shots, but I like to have a general shot to put everything in context and where it’s displayed in relation to everything else.

i have an rss feed in my browser that tells me when new shelf porn articles have been released.

How do you submit images/contact robot 6 to get featured on Shelf porn? I can’t find a link with any info, clicking submit a link leads to page not found.

Thanks everyone for the comments!! I also JUST added two new Sixth Scale figures for Christmas…I got the Avengers Black Widow and Hulk from Hot Toys.

I realize now in retrospect that I should indeed have included a photo or two of the room as a whole to show the complete layout. (would have also shown the DVD collection in the background of like 500 DVDs).

Wasp, I found instructions at this location:
