Happy (early) 91st birthday to Stan Lee!

stan lee-thor-hulk

Stan Lee, who with such collaborators as Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Bill Everett, Larry Lieber and Don Heck created the Marvel Universe, and who earlier this introduced his own cologne, turns 91 years old on Saturday. Yet he still has fewer than 1 million followers on Twitter; helping Lee to reach that milestone would seem like a nice birthday present …

To help celebrate the anniversary of his birth, I once again collect some of my favorite Stan Lee photos from around the Internet:

Stan is perhaps one of a handful of people to have written comic stories of EVERY Genre!

I am still amazed at how excited Stan Lee gets when he still talks about comic book characters and the movies that have been made !!!!! I am really glad that he has lived long enough to see some of his creations go beyond the world of comic book pages !!!!! I wish that Jack Kirby and Gene Colan were still around to see to see the fruits of their labor as well !!!!!

So weird to see the photos with a beard. Which help to remind anyone who ever read a Kirby DC comic with Funky Flashman jsut who the King was lampooning.

Happy 91st to the living legend! Wonder what wacky cameo he gets in GotG.

I had the privilege of meeting Stan a couple of years ago and he was such a gentleman.

Amazing that he’s practically the only person left from the Golden Age. I can hardly think of anyone else besides Al Feldstein.

Happy early birthday Stan !

The print he signed for me is priceless to me.

Happy 91st birthday Stan and many more marvel movies to come !!!!!! Looking fore ward to Avengers 2 in the next couple of years !!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Stan,
Years ago I sent you the copy of The Spider, Master of Men, paperback
I had found in a store.

You also send Hulk stuff to my Son Peter Garwood’s dying son Damian.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart Sir!

It’s so good to see you going strong, Please tell Marvel to slow down a bit, more Characterization and a Little bit Less Constant action!

Happy Birthday again And many more…

Happy…Happy…Happy 91 st birthday Stan…continue assim amigo e muita saude…

It was an exciting honor to meet Stan Lee by an amazing chance at the Emerald City Comic Con in 2010 in Seattle. He went out of his way to encourage and inspire me. Thank you, Stan.

The characters that you, Jack Kirby, and Steve Ditko created are gifts that mean so much to so many people, and have ignited the imaginations of generations.

Happy (almost) Birthday!

Stan –

One of the most prolific, and creative writers in American history, and mostly ignored, because he wrote “comic books”… One of the greatest injustices in history!

Happy Birthday, Sir… Raise a glass and celebrate, as we will, in joining you on the next phase of your journey!

Excelsior!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, STAN!
STAN WAS OUR GUEST OF HONOR AT OUR POWER-CON ’92 CONVENTION IN MARGATE, FLORIDA
.
THE MOST REMARKABLE MEMORY OF THOSE DAYS, AND BELIEVE ME, THERE WERE MANY, WAS RIGHT AFTER WE HAD A QUESTION/ANSWER SESSION. THE METAL CHAIRS WERE SET UP IN ROWS IN FRONT OF THE STAGE. THERE WAS ABOUT 12 ROWS DEEP. ON STAGE WERE STAN, MARTY NODELL, WIL EISNER AND SHELLY MOLDOFF. THE AUDIENCE WAS TRANSFIXED ON THE STAGE OF THE LIVING HISTORY IN FRONT OF THEM.

HERE’S THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT;
I CALLED A LUNCH BREAK, AND EVERYONE WENT THEIR SEPARATE WAY, EXCEPT FOR STAN.
I ASKED HIM IF HE WOULD LIKE ME TO TAKE HIM TO LUNCH, AND HE SAID,”NO THANKS, I’M MEETING MY WIFE AND I’LL BE BACK IN AN HOUR.”

ARE YOU READY? HERE IT COMES! STAN DIDN’T WALK AROUND THE ROWS OF CHAIRS.
AT 69 YEARS OLD HE JUMPED ROW, AFTER ROW, AFTER ROW, LIKE A STEEPLECHASE, AND MADE IT WITHOUT SO MUCH AS A HUFF OR A PUFF!
THAT LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, IS THE STAN LEE THAT I REMEMBER AND LOVE!!

Happy 91st Stan the MAN! You were none of my childhood heroes and probably had the most influence on me of any male other than my own father. Thanks for teaching me to follow my dreams and that ANYTHING is possible if you believe. EXCELSIOR!!

Happy Birthday , True Believer. I thank you for the best parts of my childhood.

My childhood in Kenya was made all the more imaginative by your comic stories I never out grew happy birthday Stan lee

Happy Bday Stan, wasn’t aware how fermented you were, but like a fine wine it gets better with age.

Happy B-Day Stan! “With great power comes great responsibility” may have existed in some published form before The Man brought the concept to the world through the hard lessons Spider-Man learned, but he surely has made us all think about what we do with the power we have at our own disposal. We all have power in 1 form or more. The greater our ‘powers’ : be they the ability to sway public opinion, give financially to good works/causes, or just to say a few words of comfort to someone at just the right time, or anything with the potential to affect any change, the greater the burden we must all realize. We need to use these powers responsibly, & let our influences make a better world. Thanks Stan for everything you’ve taught us through the Marvel Universe, that applies to the way humans without superhuman abilities should aspire to!

Senhor Stan Lee, grande dia esse de sua vida, 91 anos de vida e de um Universo Maravilhoso…parabéns! Continue a ser poderoso & sobre-humano em suas técnicas hipinóticas, mais uma vez, parabéns!!

Happy birthday, Stan. Hard to believe that at 57, the man who gave me so much reading pleasure, fostered a lifelong joy of reading (not just comic books) and educated me in the American culture is still going from strength to strength. Excelsior!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COMIC GENIUS MR. STAN LEE

Dear Stan: happy birthday and thank you for helping me through a very difficult childhood. Your stories and characters (especially Peter Parker and the Thing) I related to in a huge way. I WAS Peter Parker – only in my instance it was my Grandmother, not Aunt May who cared for me and loved me. I WAS the Thing – vastly overweight and ugly to the point of being bullied and tormented by my peers. The stories who wrote around these two characters especially, and their ability to “rise above it all” carried me through very troubled times and provided me with hope and inspiration that has carried me through my entire life. No words could express my gratitude – thank you Stan – from the bottom of my heart.

Happy birthday Stan! 91 years old, wow! I had know Idea! You are defiantly are to Marvel what Steve Jobs was to Apple.

Happy birthday Stan and thanks a lot for all the amazing and fantastic enterteinment you have given us.

Happy birthday, Stan! We love you!

See you next July!

Happy birthday Stan the man. Praise Yeshua
