Max Landis' New Comic, "Green Valley," Presents a Fantasy-Free Tale of Knights and Redemption
A fire on Sunday caused about $300,000 in damage to a building in Omaha, Nebraska, that houses one of the two locations of Dragon’s Lair Comics & Games. According to the retailer, the store suffered “lots of water and smoke damage.”
The Omaha World-Herald reports the blaze at 8316 Blondo St. began about 10 a.m. in Treasure Mart Collectibles, operated by the building’s owner, and followed a pipe into the attic. No one in either of the stores or in the five apartments on the second floor was injured. The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined.
The Dragon’s Lair Facebook page directs customers to the store’s location in the nearby Millard neighborhood while the Blondo Street shop is closed.
“We’ve received many inquiries wishing to help,” wrote manager Craig Peterson. “I hope you all know just how much your show of support has helped already. As most of you know, The Blondo Lair has been open since the early 70’s, Bob [Gellner] starting up not to long after his college years. I joined on board in the early 80s, & everyone else currently on staff has been around at least 5 years. Needless to say, this is completely unexpected, & devastating to all of us. Your show of support is a huge help & reminder to us of how special our customers are. We’ve all made countless friends through the shop. You all are so important to us.”
ROBOT 6 previously reported on Dragon’s Lair in October, when its Blondo Street location was robbed at knife point for a box of Yu-Gi-Oh! cards.
