In this Toronto comic store, even the coffee cups wear masks

Toronto’s Silver Snail is celebrating its partnership with The Black Canary Espresso Bar (located inside the comic store) by giving away limited-edition “cup masks” to the first 200 people who stop by today for a comic book and coffee.

As you can see from the photo above, the cup sleeves feature close-ups of such characters as Wolverine, Captain America, Spider-Man, the Incredible Hulk and Iron Man. And they’re not all Marvel characters, either: You can get a look at Catwoman and Harley Quinn below.

I would make those things a permanent promotion instead of limited and work up some kind of deal along the lines of, if you show your comics receipt at the coffee bar, you get one of the “masks” on your cup and that’s the only way to get one. I know plenty of parents who would get coffee there so that their kids could have one of those “masks” to put around one of their drinking cups.

But, regardless, brilliant idea!

Consider that both the Silver Snail AND the Black Canary are independently owned small businesses and likely unable to afford the cost of doing a permanent promotion like you suggest. And instead applaud the attempt and their cleverness for creating another hot item, for if someone REALLY wants one, they’ll figure it out.
