First look at color art from ‘Gotham Academy’

Even as DC Comics announces another intriguing addition to its Batman line, the horror title Gotham By Midnight, artist Karl Kerschl has unveiled the first look at colored panel from Gotham Academy #1, offering a hint at what readers can expect from the October-debuting series. He has also posted a few black-and-white panels on his blog.

Written by Becky Cloonan and Brenden Fletcher, with art by Kerschl and colorist Romain Gaschet, Gotham Academy is a teen drama set in the city’s most prestigious school (or, as the official description reads, “set in the shadow of Batman and the craziness of Gotham City”).

Gotham Academy and Gotham By Midnight are joined in the new wave of decidedly different Bat-books by Arkham Manor, by Gerry Duggan and Shawn Crystal, in which Wayne Manor becomes the new Arkham Asylum.

And in case you’ve forgotten the Diamond order code for Gotham Academy, Kerschl provides an adorable reminder, which you can see below.

That’s some good looking art.

That is so rendered I thought it’s from a video game. Waste of nice lineart.

It’d be nice if they would put off the wall creators on other comics and kept them there for two years. I’d kill for a JSA by Matt Kindt and Kano.

Or another Omega Men with Henry Flint on art colored by the AMAZING Dom Reagan (I think…?). With Anderson Gabrych, they really dropped the ball on that one.
