Ahead of next month’s Toy Fair in New York City, The Wall Street Journal has the first look at LEGO’s massive 2,996-piece S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier playset.

The Helicarrier is 11 inches high, 17 inches wide and a whopping 31 inches long, and boasts two runways, microscale fighter jets, Quinjets and ground-support vehicles, plus five minifigures from Marvel’s 2012 blockbuster The Avengers, including — brace yourselves! — two female characters: Nick Fury, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye and new addition Maria Hill. Imagine that.

There are also a dozen mirofigures — Nick Fury, Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye and eight S.H.I.E.L.D. agents — that can populate the control center and runways.

LEGO enthusiasts probably won’t blink at the price, but casual fans may want to brace themselves (again): The Helicarrier is going to set you back $349.99. It arrives in March.

Toy Fair 2015 will be held Feb. 14-17 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan.

Is one of those video screens going to have a Galaga sticker on it?

The Galaga sticker will be an expansion pack :-)

A few days ago I actually came upon the proposal for this at the Lego Ideas website where it is already at the review stage, so I am pleasantly surprised to see that it is now official!

Damn, $350 and you don’t even get all the Avengers? Or Ultron?

Holy Maccaroni! My pirateships from my childhood pale in comparison….

It won’t sell well. Crappy selection of figures, and not many building blocks.

The reason sets like the Death Star have been so popular is because you get a ton of cool figures with it.

This SHIELD set does not even have much playability factor. A bunch of micro planes and stuff? How weird.

This whole lego thing is getting kinda weird. Age 16 and up? 350$?
Im surprised more ppl dont pick up on this but for me, the whole point of the Lego movie was kinda a smack in the face to these adult collectors who get these sets. There should be the joy of actually creating a helicarrier out of legos, not just having the set and keeping it like that like a statue, sometimes glued together.

Wow!! I may have not cared for “The Avengers,” but I’d love to get this just for the challenge of putting it together.

Holy sh…. it’s cool but $350!!!

And I balk at the $100+ some of the Star Wars set go for!

That’s pretty bitchin’.

I’m an adult who likes putting lego sets together, I think Lego has a wide audience and sets like this are targeted to adults, not children. Like, I don’t really care about how many mini-figs I get. I like huge sets with high piece counts I can enjoy putting together for hours. Will probably be picking this one up.
