Jamie S. Rich joins Vertigo as senior editor

As DC Entertainment continues to staff its Burbank, California, headquarters, prolific writer Jamie S. Rich announced he’s been hired by Vertigo as senior editor. He began work there Wednesday.

“Lots of exciting things in the works,” he wrote on Twitter. “Stay tuned.”

A former editor at Dark Horse and editor-in-chief at Oni Press, Rich is perhaps best known for It Girl and the Atomics, and his collaborations with artist Joëlle Jones: 12 Reasons Why I Love Her, You Have Killed Me and, currently, Lady Killer. He’s also a novelist and music journalist.

News of Rich’s hiring follows the announcement last week that Andy Khouri, former ComicsAlliance editor-in-chief and a CBR alum, has joined DC Comics as an editor in Brian Cunningham’s office.

Nice coup for Vertigo, which really needs to up its game to remain relevant with the rise of Image.

Congrats to Jamie, and to DC for another excellent hire! (In addition to Jamie and Andy, they also picked up the stellar Rebecca Taylor from Archaia.)

I have a feeling Vertigo is gearing up to have a really strong second half of 2015. Post Convergence and the June reshuffling, I really hope DC Entertainment allows Vertigo to shine. With the con season fast approaching I expect some big announcements :-)

Mo: Or at the very least, a strong 2016. I suspect it’ll take a little while for the new projects to get up and running.
