‘Star Wars’ meets Pooh Bear in charming ‘Wookiee the Chew’

pooh8

The excitement surrounding Star Wars: The Force Awakens has inspired countless mashup illustrations, but few are as adorable as James Hance’s “Wookiee the Chew.” Because, seriously, can it get any sweeter than this?

As you might guess from the name, the series reimagines Star Wars characters (original-trilogy variety) as Winnie-the-Pooh and friends, with Chewbacca standing in for Pooh Bear, R2-D2 for Piglet, an AT-AT for Eeyore, a pair of tauntauns for Kanga and little Roo, and so on.

The original pieces were available on Hance’s Etsy page, but they appear to have all sold out. Oh, bother. However, he also offers color prints and even a Wookiee the Chew stuffed animal.

Adorable. I could hang those in my son’s room.

Hence came up with Wookiee the Chew well before Disney acquired the Star Wars franchise from Lucas. I wrote my review of the comic (http://www.panelsonpages.com/?p=54042) back in July 2012.

How much did the pieces of art sell for?

Sounds like copyright infringement. Buy them while you can before word reaches Disney and they shut this artist down.
