Deadpool & Cable: Split Second artist Reilly Brown could use a little help.
A week that began “amazingly” with the birth of his son William, which was followed by the premiere of the Deadpool movie, ended terribly, as a fire broke out Feb. 13 in Hoboken, New Jersey, and spread from building to building. Thankfully, no one was injured in the blaze, but Brown, his wife Shawna and their newborn child, along with the other residents of their apartment building, were forced to evacuate. The smoke and water damage to Brown’s apartment was extensive, and he says it will be months before his family can return.
“Honestly, when I saw the fire burning only feet away from our own apartment, I’d written the whole place off,” Brown writes on his blog, where he posts photos of the aftermath, “so anything that we can recover I count as a blessing. Shawna and Will are safe, and that’s the most important thing.”
Here’s where you can help: Brown says virtually all of their belongings are saturated with smoke; while some items can be cleaned, clothes, books and anything for the baby will have to be replaced. Although insurance will help some, it won’t be enough to cover the costs of cleaning what can be salvaged, and replacing what can’t be, and moving. So Brown hopes that anyone interested to help by purchasing some of his original art, hit him up for commissions, or buy one of his sketchbooks as a downloadable PDF for whatever price.
“Even if it’s just a dollar,” he writes, “every little bit will help.”
