Updated (6: 14 a.m.): Warner Bros. Interactive and Lucasfilm have now officially announced LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The original story continues below.
LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens is heading our way in June, according to an apparently inadvertent listing on Xbox.com and a leaked trailer (below).
The news obviously shouldn’t come as a surprise. However, neither Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment nor developer TT Games had revealed the project was in the works. Expect official world later this morning, as Warner Bros. had tipped off media outlets that it would make a “massive announcement” today.
According to the XBox listing, the game will allow players to “relive the epic action from the blockbuster film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, retold through the clever and witty LEGO lens.” It will feature playable content that bridges the gap between the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. As you can see from the images and teaser trailer, gamers will be able to play as such characters as Rey, Finn, Poe, BB-8, Kylo Ren and Han Solo.
In addition, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will introduce Multi-Builds, in which players can use “available LEGO bricks to open up new paths, then break them apart and re-build them again to open up another,” and Blaster Battles, in which they can use their surroundings as cover.
LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens is scheduled to arrive June 28 on Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
