Alex Ross vs. zombies in new ‘Call of Duty’ cover art

Art dealer Sal Abbinanti has revealed Alex Ross’ cover for Origins, the Zombies map included as part of the upcoming Apocalypse downloadable content package for Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops II.

From the sound of it, Origins is pretty much what you’d imagine, with players fighting to survive wave after wave of the undead. Only in this case, it’s set during World War I, with giant mecha and the like — which you can see looming in Ross’ art, below.

‘Deadpool’ video game debuts launch trailer: ‘Drop the beat!’

Ahead of the arrival of the Deadpool video game on Tuesday, IGN. com has debuted the gameplay launch trailer for the third-person shooter from Marvel, Activision and High Moon Studios.

“This is my launch trailer,” the Merc with a Mouth says in the introduction, “and research shows that trailers, dubstep and absolute chaos go together like Wolverine and bad haircuts.”

Developed for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, Deadpool is a third-person shooter in which the character — like his comic-book counterpart — breaks the fourth wall to interact with players, in between combat focusing on guns, twin swords and an expanded arsenal that includes lasers and giant hammers.

The Marauders board ‘Deadpool’ video game

The cast of Activision’s Deadpool continues to grow with the announcement that Marauders Arclight, Blockbuster and Vertigo are joining their leader Mister Sinister in the video game. You can see the images below, courtesy of SuperHeroHype.

‘Deadpool’ video game gets June 25 release

Fans of Marvel’s Merc With a Mouth don’t have much longer to wait: Activision has announced it will release its Deadpool video game June 25 in North America (which probably means June 28 in Europe) for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Previously, the title had been saddled with a nebulous “summer” launch date.

To mark the announcement, the publisher has debuted a half-dozen new screenshots of the game, which will retail in North America for a lower-than-usual $49.99 for consoles and $39.99 for PCs.

New ‘Deadpool’ game trailer: ‘Let’s torch this mother!’

Activision and High Moon Studios have debuted a new trailer for their upcoming Deadpool video game that’s probably just what fans of Marvel’s Merc With a Mouth are looking for: Breaking of the fourth wall? Check. Violence? Check. Juvenile humor? Check. A reference to Cable’s “man-bazookas”? Naturally.

But there are also glimpses of gameplay, sprinkled liberally with gunfire, explosions and bloodshed. Watch the trailer below. Deadpool will be available later this year for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Activision announces new ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ game

Activision has announced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, a downloadable game inspired by Nickelodeon’s hit CG-animated series — which is itself, of course, based on the comic created nearly three decades ago by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird.

Developed by Red Fly Studio (Thor: God of Thunder, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II), the third-person brawler will allow gamers to experience four-player online co-op play as Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael battle the Foot Clan in New York City.

Teenage Mutant Turtles: Out of the Shadows will debut this summer for digital download on for digital download on Xbox LIVE Marketplace, PlayStation Network, and PC via Steam.

Deadpool video game debuts new concept art, screenshots

Activision and High Moon Studios have released new concept art and screenshots for Deadpool, the upcoming video game based on Marvel’s infamous Merc With a Mouth. Considering that the game was announced last month at Comic-Con International when the wisecracking mercenary hijacked a Marvel panel, it’s only fitting that he also wrote the fact sheet provided by the developer, which you can read below.

Deadpool will be released sometime next year.

SDCC ’12 | Watch the teaser for the Deadpool video game

This afternoon at the Marvel Games panel at Comic-Con International, Marvel officially announced a Deadpool video game from Activision and High Moon Studios, with whom they’re also developing a Hit-Monkey game. Well, actually, Deadpool took over the panel himself to make the announcement.

If you weren’t in San Diego to catch the official announcement in person, don’t worry: The Merc with a Mouth has released his own teaser video, which you can watch below. The game’s set for release sometime next year.

SDCC ’11 | Activision announces voices for Spider-Man: Edge of Time, X-Men Destiny

In advance of their big panel on Saturday at Comic-Con International, video game company Activision has announced several of the voice actors who will bring their two big fall Marvel releases to life.

According to the press release from Activision, Iceman will appear in Spider-Man: Edge of Time — not the amazing friend of the same name, but Val Kilmer of Top Gun, Batman Forever and Heat fame. Kilmer will voice a character named Walker Sloan. In addition, Battlestar Galactica alumni Katee Sackhoff will voice the Black Cat, while Smallville‘s Supergirl, Laura Vandervoort, will voice Mary Jane. They join Josh Keaton as the voice of Spider-Man and Christopher Daniel Barnes as Spider-Man 2099.
