Are you satisfied with your care? OK, then how about your sleep? If not, then this adorable Baymax bed may be exactly what you’ve been looking for. Better still, it will never deactivate.

Sold by Japanese online retailer DeNA Shopping, the “Baymax Stuffed Animal Sofa Sofa Bed BAYMAX Bed” — honestly, that’s what it’s called! — is a whopping seven and a half feet of adorableness. Made from polypropylene fiber, it’s pliable, allowing you to lay it flat, sit it up or even wrap yourself in a hug from the breakout star of Disney’s Big Hero 6.

These ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Easter eggs are actual eggs

guardians-easter-eggs

When it comes to decorating Easter eggs, I never progressed beyond the messy mix of hot water, vinegar and food coloring. However, artist Barak Hardley is operating on a far higher plane.

In this video from AWE Me, he showcases dozens of his holiday creations, from the cast of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy (with appropriately larger Groot and smaller Rocket) and Baymax from Big Hero 6 to Hellboy and Hobbes. In between, you’ll spot the likes of Homer Simpson, Ziggy Stardust-era David Bowie, Saul Goodman and Ehrmantraut, the Powerpuff Girls and the Deathstar.

Baymax may not be fast, but he makes a decent flight attendant

baymax-flight3

Baymax has become almost immediately popular in China, where Disney’s Big Hero 6 has raked in more than $78.6 million since its opening Feb. 28. So perhaps it’s no surprise to see the cuddly healthcare robot pop up here and there, such as in flight-attendant training courses.

Hey, he did say that flying makes him a better care provider. These photos are from the Sichuan Southwest Vocational College of Civil Aviation in Chengdu, which Kotaku notes is no stranger to publicity stunts like this. (What Baymax is doing with the flowers in the restroom is anybody’s guess.)

Watch ‘Big Hero 6’s’ Baymax & GoGo face off in ‘Street Fighter IV’

bh6-street-fighter

Considering the care with which Disney is managing Big Hero 6, we’re unlikely to see characters from the Oscar-winning animated movie appear in a traditional fighting game. However, if you were curious how a San Fransokyo tournament might play out, this video gives an idea.

Modder Salim transformed Zangief into Baymax and Cammy into GoGo Tomago, pitting them against each other in Capcom’s Ultra Street Fighter IV. It’s pretty impressive handiwork, as you can see in further detail from the Baymax skin below.

This adorable Baymax will be your personal nighttime companion

baymax

It turns out the lovable healthcare robot from Disney’s Big Hero 6 can not only diagnoses illness, disinfect cuts and pet hairy babies — he can also keep you from stubbing your toe at night.

Brando is accepting preorders for this Baymax LED lamp, which boasts multiple modes — fade, smooth breathing, flash, multi-effect and soothing sleep — and brightness control. It even has movable head and arms. So, yeah, it’s perfect as a nightlight for children … or, y’know, adults.

‘Big Hero 6′ manga adaptation to end in March

big hero 6

The manga adaptation of Disney’s Big Hero 6 will conclude with the March 20 issue of Kodansha’s Magazine Special magazine, Anime News Network reports.

Announced in July, the manga by Haruki Ueno marks the first time Disney has used a full-fledged series, rather than a one-off story, to promote a movie release in Japan. Called Baymax, after the film’s Japanese title, the adaptation debuted Aug. 20, following a preview.

Comics A.M. | ‘Big Hero 6′ drives up prices on original comics

Creators | Captain Marvel writer Kelly Sue DeConnick talks about the character, and her reaction to the newly announced Marvel film: “I feel so proud of her, like Carol is this person who lives in my head, and ‘look what you did, girl!’ It feels like a friend just got a promotion.” [Speakeasy]

Publishing | Chris Butcher announced that, after three years as marketing director, he’s left UDON Entertainment to focus more fully on his work for the Toronto store The Beguiling (where he’s manager) and the Toronto Comic Arts Festival (where he’s festival director). [Comics212]

Marvel’s ‘Big Hero 6′ blackout

BigHero6-JrNovelization

Coming soon (but not from Marvel)

Walt Disney Animation has premiered an adorable two-minute clip from Big Hero 6 that highlights the relationship between young Hiro and his robot Baymax, and has me looking forward to the Nov. 7 release of the film.

Even from the limited glimpses we’ve gotten of them, the characters are already appealing. I sure would be down for reading more stories about them. However, Marvel has no plans to release any comic books in conjunction with the premiere of Big Hero 6 — no reprints of the original stories that inspired from the movie, no new comics … nothing.

As the first Disney animated movie to take advantage of the House of Mouse’s $4 billion purchase of the House of Ideas, you’d think this would be pretty exciting for Marvel, and something it would want to promote. And yet, Marvel is surprisingly quiet about Big Hero 6.

There are no plans to reprint the 1998 original Sunfire & Big Hero 6 miniseries by Scott Lobdell and Gus Vazquez, or the 2006 follow-up Big Hero 6 by Chris Claremont and David Nakayama . Asked about that last week by Comic Book Resources, Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso explained, “The characters and stories that have appeared in our comics are very different from what they are in the film. Releasing material that would be viewed as movie tie-in product would be a disservice to filmgoers. We wanted the Disney folks to be able to create their own unique style and story, unencumbered by those older stories.”

Comics A.M. | ‘Attack on Titan’ conquers bookstores in June

Attack on Titan, Vol. 1

Attack on Titan, Vol. 1

Publishing | The latest BookScan numbers reveal June was a good month for manga in bookstores, with eight volumes of Attack on Titan making the top 20 — a new record. The first volume topped the list, which means new readers are still discovering Hajime Isayama’s dark fantasy. Overall, manga had a slight edge, with 11 titles, and all three volumes of Saga were on the list, but only one volume of The Walking Dead. And despite the Amazon-Hachette battle, the Yen Press title Sword Art Online: Aincrad made the chart. [ICv2]

Publishing | ICv2 and Comichron’s John Jackson Miller joined forces to calculate the size of the entire comics market, including the direct market, bookstore and digital channels, and both single issues and graphic novels. Inevitably some things get left out, such as subscription services, sales to libraries and the juggernaut that is the Scholastic Book Fair, but it’s a good snapshot. The bottom line: $850 million in 2013. [Comichron]

Disney merchandise rang up a record $40.9 billion in 2013

disney-licensing expo

Characters from Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars appeared together on stage Monday for the first time ever as the entertainment giant touted its powerhouse brands ahead of the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas.

According to Variety, Disney is once again the world’s top licensor, with a record $40.9 billion in retail sales last year, up from $39.4 billion in 2012. With looming films like Guardians of the Galaxy, Big Hero 6 and The Avengers: Age of Ultron, based on Marvel comics, the live-action Cinderella and Star Wars: Episode VII, plus the Star Wars Rebels animated television series, that seems unlikely to change in the near future.

The doors open in just an hour on the D23 Expo, the official Disney fan gathering held through Sunday in Anaheim, California. Tickets for Saturday are sold out.

While much of the event, of course, caters to Disney devotees — theme-park fans, serious collectors and cinephiles alike — we should expect a decent amount of news that reaches beyond the Magic Kingdom. For instance, today there’s a presentation featuring many of the voice actors from Marvel’s animated television series, and a signing with the producer and director of Big Hero 6, Walt Disney Animation’s first adaptation of a Marvel comic. That movie, based on the characters created by Steven T. Seagle and Duncan Rouleau, is getting a promotional push at the event, which features a Big Hero 6 display (above, courtesy of ComingSoon).
