Vaughan & Chiang's "Paper Girls" Builds a Familiar Yet Disconcerting World
Phantom City Creative continues its series of Mondo posters inspired by Batman: The Animated Series with “Mudslide” and “The Man Who Killed Batman.”
The first is based on the Season 2 episode that marked the second and final appearance of Clayface, who apparently meets his end in the ocean (don’t worry, returned in The New Adventures of Batman). The second poster, meanwhile, is inspired by the well-remembered Season 1 episode that explores just what the Dark Knight means to Gotham.
You didn’t think Mondo was finished with those “75 Years of Batman” prints did you? After the first wave went on sale today, the collectible-art boutique revealed which posters will be available on Wednesday: They’re illustrations inspired by Batman ’66, Batman: The Animated Series and Batman Beyond by Jason Edmiston, Tiny Kitten Teeth, Phantom City Creative, Craig Drake, Gianmarco Magnani and Kilian Eng.

At some point today — you have to follow along on Twitter to find out when — Mondo will announce the availability of five Guardians of the Galaxy limited-edition screen prints by Francesco Francavilla, Tyler Stout, Kevin Tong, Phantom City Creative and Vance Kelly.
If you’re even vaguely familiar with Mondo sales, you know the the prints go quickly. And considering all the buzz surrounding Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, with premieres today nationwide, you can expect these to be snapped up in record time. To mark the U.S. premiere of Iron Man 3 on Friday, Mondo will offers three limited-edition posters created by Phantom City Creative and Martin Ansin. As usual, they’ll go on sale at random times, so you’ll have to follow the boutique on Twitter.
The Toronto-based Phantom City Creative previously produced a Captain America poster for Marvel’s The Avengers. Their Iron Man 3 print, which appears to feature all of Tony Stark’s armors, can be purchased for $45.
A veteran of Mondo’s film-poster offerings, Martin Ansin last year created a Thor print for The Avengers. His Iron Man 3 poster comes in two flavors: a 450-copy gold version ($50), and a 200-copy silver version ($75).
Following last week’s Black Widow and Hawkeye prints, Mondo two more limited-edition prints in honor of Marvel’s The Avengers: Captain America, by Phantom City Creative, and Bruce Banner/the Incredible Hulk (with Leviathan in the background), by Ken Taylor. The two posters will go on sale Thursday for $45 each. Sale times will be announced via Mondo’s Twitter account.
