Deathlok predicts the future in Wolverine & The X-Men Twitter class

The Jean Grey School for Higher Learning

In a novel use of Twitter, Marvel live-tweeted a class from the curriculum of the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning, straight from the pages of Wolverine & The X-Men. Taking part in the class were Headmistress Kitty Pryde, students Genesis, Kid Gladiator, Quentin Quire, Idie Okonkwo, Broo, Rockslide and Anole, and guest lecturer Deathlok.

Warning: Potential spoilers follow.

While much of the class consisted of banter from the students insulting each other and gossiping about campus events, there were a few pieces of information gleaned from the guest lecture in “Future History 101.” After the lecture officially began, Quentin Quire and Rockslide engaged in a debate as to what was different about Headmistress Pryde.

Ilias Kyriazis imagines the Avengers 15 years from now

by Ilias Kyriazis

I linked to Ilias Kyriazis’ image of his favorite DC characters earlier this month, and as we wait patiently for the Marvel version he mentioned he’s starting, here’s something to enjoy in the meantime: Kyriazis imagines what the Avengers might look like 15 years from now.

The line-up includes several kids of current and former Avengers, like Luna Maximoff, Valeria Richards and Danielle Cage, all grown up and following in the footsteps of their parents. They’re joined by a few wild cards like Molly Hayes and Quentin Quire. If you head over to his blog, he shares the background of each character and why he chose their respective looks.

Truth be told, Morrison introduced a number of outside-the-box ideas during his 40-plus issues on New X-Men, and it would’ve been difficult for any publisher to juggle them all. Some concepts, such as Emma Frost joining the primary X-team and Jean Grey being written out of the picture, have proven permanent. But others, such as the X-Corps and characters like Xorn and Beak, have largely been written out of existence.

In recent months some characters, like Quentin Quire and Fantomex, have been dusted off for use in X-Men: Schism and Uncanny X-Force, but by and large Marvel has had difficulty coming to terms with Morrison’s additions to the X-Men franchise. Here’s a quick list of some Morrison-era New X-Men morsels that could (and should) be brought back to the fore come X-Men: Regenesis.
