My name is Bryan Hodgson, I am 33 and I have been collecting comics in one form or another for about 20 years. I am a part owner of one of the local comic stores, and I have recently returned to University to pursue a career as a Pharmacist. My wife (Lisa) shares my passion for the hobby and has become quite the enabler when it comes to additions to the collection. As such we have comic or comic-related paraphernalia in nearly every room of our house. I tried to take pictures of everything that we have set up, but I may have missed a few things here and there.

Additionally I do have a large collection of monthly comics (somewhere around 7,000+ issues), but I didn’t include pictures of them because I don’t find large white boxes incredibly interesting. If any of the readers are interested, I can certainly send them some pictures.

I did my best to number the pictures in such a way that it is like a tour around our house. I’ll make a few comments along the way, but for the most part I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. If you have any comments or questions I will be happy to answer them. On to the collection.

Starting upstairs pictures 1 through 9 include what we have on display in our living room, dining room, kitchen and main floor bathroom. The art above the fireplace is by John Cassaday and is my favorite piece in my collection.

Pictures 10-14 follow you as you make your way downstairs to the bulk of the collection. Yes Mario is made out of lego and the alien from Space Invaders is made out of chainmail links.

This is a set of art prints that the SDCC put out in 2006 for the DC comic stamps. I missed grabbing the Marvel ones that were released later so if any of the viewers know where to grab a set I would love to know.

Pictures 16-29 are three of the display cases I have stuffed full of statues and busts. I did my best to arrange each shelf with a theme in mind. Care to take any guesses?

Pictures 30-38 are found within our non-superhero comic room. The Earthworm Jim riding Tommy was a fantastic commission from Doug TenNapel who is one of the humblest comic creators I have met (super-tall too!).

And the remainder (pictures 39-89) are within the main comic room. The anal-retentiveness I put into organizing my collection becomes readily apparent within this room. Books are arranged thusly: DC and Others Absolute, Marvel HC Oversized, DC HC Oversized, Marvel HC, DC HC, Marvel Trades, DC Trades, Independent HCs, Independent Trades and then art books, regular novels and board games. It’s almost a sickness how particular I am with organizing and aligning the books.

As a final statement I would like to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed viewing the other collector’s shelf porn on the website. It is always nice to see collections (large and small) from across the world. Thank you for hosting my collection and thank you for introducing me to so many wonderful collections from other fans.

I began officially collecting comic books with Alpha Flight 1 by John Byrne, which led to his Fantastic Four run, which led to Uncanny X-Men, which led to New Teen Titans, and so on. So far, I’ve managed to confine my hobby to one basement room in the house. The highlights include a complete run of Miracleman 1-24 and to date I am three issues away from completing the 300-issue run of Cerebus – unfortunately I require 1, 3, and 4 which are pretty difficult to find at an affordable price.

Although my comics are in long boxes, I keep my graphic novels, hardcovers, trade paperbacks, and collectibles on shelves. Most of the Star Wars toys are original to my childhood. Luckily I was not one of those kids whose parents threw out their toys. I managed to keep mine in pretty good shape for the most part. Other items I was able to reacquire as I got older, got a job and actually had some cash to buy.

The shelf with the Lone Wolf and Cub/Samurai Executioner/Path of the Assasin manga digests also holds most of my Star Wars swag. On the top shelf is a Dark Knight promotional vacuform (although it’s a little beat up) plus the LP for the original Star Wars record album.

The manga spin rack that holds the Archie digests was retrieved from a “dumpster dive” from a local comic shop that threw it out. It was perfectly fine so I pulled it out of the garbage, threw it in my car and drove off before too many people noticed what I was doing.

I went on an Absolute edition binge, much to the detriment of my wallet. The Battlestar Galactica Viper on the shelf is an original toy from 1979 . I also have a Cylon raider on the adjacent shelf. In both cases, they shoot out small red missiles but this was changed due to safety concerns as kids were getting nailed in the eyes with the missiles. Later versions of the viper and raider had missiles but they did not detach from the ships.

The room has original artwork from Steve Rolston on Queen and Country, a Darick Robertson head sketch of Billy Butcher from The Boys, and a Steve McNiven Nemesis sketch. The Batman Earth One print was signed by Gary Frank at Fan Expo in Toronto 2010.

My name is Iz Wilkison and I’m from Lakewood, Colorado. I’ve been reading comics for 30 years now, but what is depicted here is a pale shadow of what my collection used to be. Y’see, around seven years ago I was laid off and struggled to find work for nearly two years. During that time I was forced to sell off most of my collection, and have only been rebuilding it for the past couple years. Now to my meager collection…

This is the collection as it now sits in the guest bedroom/computer room. Those two large bookshelves (along with 2 others) were once completely full, and are only now nearing capacity.

This is the left bookshelf. On top is my O-ren sword from Kill Bill, and on the top shelf sits Mjolnir and my Qmx replica phaser from the Star Trek film. The second shelf is full of Marvel oversized hardcovers.

On the third shelf sit miscellaneous large-format books and graphic novels. The fourth shelf is where you’ll find the rest of my hardcover collection. Finally, the bottom shelf sits empty, awaiting spillover.

Here are my Marvel Essentials/DC Showcase bookcases, along with a floating bookshelf that holds miscellaneous “odd-sized” books. The three short boxes contain rotating single issues that I’m reading (currently bronze age Spider-Man, miscellaneous silver and bronze age Green Lantern issues, and every issue of every The Demon series).

This is the right bookshelf. On the top you can see two of my H.R. Giger books, and can just make out my Sgt. Rock dogtags hanging to the left. The top shelf is the beginning of my softcover trade paperback collection.

The second and third shelf continue my softcover TPB collection.

The fourth shelf is the rest of my trades. On the bottom shelf are my original art portfolios. Mainly sketches from conventions and eBay auctions, they really deserve to be in frames on the wall.

This is the far wall with some framed issues from my collection. I change these out every few months or so (Captain America #100 always stays).

Finally, my favorite piece. I got this life-sized Spider-Man years ago from a friend of mine. Best gift ever. You can’t see it, but the closet is just to the left, and it’s packed floor-to-ceiling with comic boxes (this is where the single issue collection currently resides).

Today’s shelves come to us from, simply, “The Dork,” who blogs regularly over at The Dork Review. “This is a collection of my stuff (minus the Yoda stuff; which is my wife’s) that I have been collecting since I was a kid,” he told me via email. When I drew this, I’d just finished work with my last employer and also a long three years-plus long project to design a University somewhere in the UK (I’m an architect by profession). The room is a real place. It became my whole world when I lost my job, in February 2011. This said, you don’t have to move to travel and as time passed and I sought work, my ideas traveled on. When it was mentioned to me that Tom Humberstone, the editor of UK anthology Solipsistic Pop, was looking for contributions on the subject of maps and travel, I applied and eventually submitted a four page story (the above is pages 2 and 3), which is included in the current edition.

The map is in three panels and it is not only a map of the room (all drawn to the same level), but possibly a map of something else- but what?

The drawing contains references to work by many artists, whose drawings were there at the time (I collect original comic art from mainly UK artists of around my own age). The artists represented are as follows, and their work ranges from being almost recognisable to pretty much invisible in the drawing:

The Junos I’ve gradually accumulated over time. The collection is really a survey of comic art, and I’m lucky enough to have some beautiful examples of the work of artists that I admire, including Duncan Fegredo, Frank Quitely, Sean Phillips, Glyn Dillon, Simon Gane, Roger Langridge, Jock and Mick McMahon. Here is a sample of the collection: sketches of Juno by (clockwise from left) Mike Hawthorne, Dustin Harbin, Rob Davis, Matt Timson, Manon, Becky Cloonan, Jamie McKelvie and Paul Holland Davies (whose Juno shows up in the above drawing).

There are not so many comics here, as I only really discovered them a couple of years ago. Since then, I’ve tried to find out as much as I can and have logged the finds on my art blog.

There are books from publishers from all over the world, and a smattering of art books and postcards (the last book I read was Frederik Peeters’ Sandcastle). Many European books aren’t available here, so we have to go to France to get them, or search out translations as and when they come up, from publishers such as SelfMadeHero, Cinebook and Blank Slate Books. After discovering the range of what is possible in comics, and being inspired, I’ve since picked up a pen to draw, for the first time since my 20s. The SP4 drawing on the shelf is mine, and now I’m currently laying out a comic which I hope to spend a bit more time drawing. At the Thought Bubble comic convention in Leeds this weekend, I was lucky enough to have not only a Marvel portfolio review, but also the chance to receive advice and comments from the artists present, and I want to build on that. It’s a little blurry but there is some good stuff here. This is the extent of my Japanese stuff on the top shelf. Mostly Tezuka.

Shifting our view to the right, more comics all the way through that shelf. Top shelf is comics-related books (bios, histories etc.), a speaker with the only DVDs I own atop it. On wall: Gay Son Vs Angry Dad print by Will Varner. Original cover art for Yo! Burbalino Comics #6. An old screen print I found in the trash. Those brown boxes at the top contain some zines and minicomics but mostly store junk. On the right hand side there is a collage I made of medical drawings of phalli and a drawing of the Scream guy.

Shifting view down, closer: More comics. Bottom shelf mostly DC/Vertigo/Batman stuff. Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, etc. Sandman three volume signed boxset that I traded weed for. Dash Shaw poster for MOCCA 2010. Black bag in foreground contains bristols of comics project in the works.

Shifting a little more to the right: Dancing Batman (I forgot the name of the artist), Jaime Hernandez cut out cover of the village voice from a while ago. Peter Kuper MOCCA 2011 poster. The cat loves to play with that yellow shoe lace on the doorknob. some more comics there on that small shelf, and some ink and erasers on that table.

These are some of my “real” books, in another room. I feel like people get judged more on their reading tastes in “real” books than they do their taste in comics, so…don’t judge me. On the wall is a drawing of a cute superman by Chris Giarusso and a dancing Robin, companion to the Batman, the artist of which I have forgotten.

More real books. Top shelf is some hardcover stuff of mine that I haven’t read yet. Limited edition hardcover of Big Questions that I got for $17, and some lotion. Bottom shelves are some of my girlfriend’s books and her comics, many of which are doubles of mine, which I convinced her to buy before we started living together. (Note
the three-volume Lost Girls set) She has not read or purchased a comic since.

My prized possession, a promotional Dark Knight vacuform. Not sure if you can tell, but It is three dimensional and very brittle. This is the last photo of it intact, as it fell over and broke right after I took the picture.

My name is RM Rhodes and I’m a creator of experimental comics living in the Washington, DC metro area. I’m the easiest person to find at SPX – just look for the man in the purple suit.

I’ve been waiting to write up my shelves for a while. Over the past two years, I started collecting French Bandes Dessinees albums at a furious rate, building an overflow pile that stood over 4 feet tall at one point. It was taller than my cousin’s son and had smaller piles of graphic novels in orbit around it. We decided to get custom shelves put in, but it took a long time to find a contractor.

We finally got them put in on the first of September. We spent most of the weekend putting books on the shelves and moving them around, a process I tried to document as best I could with my camera phone. We still have to do something about the lighting and not everything is in its final resting place.

Pictures 4 and 5 show the results from the initial round of putting books on the shelves from their temporary resting place in the closet. In this version, you can see the initial demarcation of some areas that have filled in as we started moving books around – the erotic section on the top right, the odd-sized books (large and small) directly below. Picture 6 shows the intermediate arrangements of the wall of trades on the left side.

My wife wanted to put her Fluevog collection in the center curve of the shelves, so we did (picture 7). Then I started putting art behind the shoes, to maximize the space and make it much more of an artistic display. While doing this, I discovered that I have two copies of Big Numbers #1 (picture 8). Interesting note: the Fluevog on the left in picture 8 has been signed by John Fluevog.

It’s impossible to get a good picture of the whole sweep of the shelves, so I’m stuck taking pictures of the pieces. Pictures 9, 10 & 11 are the current state of the shelves, after a great deal of shifting around and additional material. Notice how the erotic section is now two full shelves – we’re still picking erotic books out of the stacks.

The rest of the photos are a snapshot of the various thematically organized shelves. For example: I have enough albums that I can break them down by language of origin (Francophone vs Anglo Saxon) and hardback/softcover. And I can further discriminate between trade-sized hardbacks and album-sized hardbacks (for both languages of origin).

From left to right, top to bottom, I have the following: Anglo-Saxon hardback albums (picture 12), Francophone hardbacks (picture 13 – I later split them by size), Anglo-Saxon hardback trades (picture 14), Francophone soft-cover albums (picture 15), Anglo-Saxon softcover albums (picture 16), oversized art books (picture 17), two shelves of erotic comics (picture 18 & 19), reference books and phone books (picture 20), large odd-sized books (picture 21) and two shelves of trades (pictures 22 & 23). These last two shelves are little odd-sized books and trade paperbacks. I also have magazine stacks and gaming books strewn through the lot.

My wife’s other contribution was her insistence that the trade paperbacks be organized by series and in order. So we did that last night, after I took pictures 12-23. Like I said, it’s a process.

Hi. This is my loft. It’s got a 1970s thing going, as you’ll see…

My reading chair is a Papasan chair. The smaller cushions and beanbag were custom-made and have some of my favourite covers. For anyone curious, the cushions have Avengers #122 and The Incredible Hulk #179. The four sides of the beanbag have Daredevil #114, Captain America and the Falcon #154, Iron Man #256 and The Mighty Thor #262 (which you can see). Behind the seat is a John Cassaday Captain America scroll.

On the small unit, you can see Mjolnir. I made it with a friend around 1994 and weighted the shaft so that it would balance on its corners. I saw that in a Thor comic book once and thought it was really cool. It’s made entirely of recycled materials, including a part of an old floorboard, and is metal-plated wood.

A complete set of variant Masterworks and some of my comic books. A few years ago the Masterworks caught up with my originals, so I can read every issue of Avengers, Cap, FF, Hulk and Thor. I also have most issues of Daredevil and the Spider-Man titles up till that appalling “Sins Past” storyline forced me to stop.

I mounted runners so that I can display comics and other items on all four sides of the sloped roof. I rotate those on display every so often. These are above the Masterworks and most are from the 1970s.

My desk. The Hulk is a modification. It started life as a poseable figure but some glue, clay, filler and paint turned it into a statue.

A few repaints of some CMFC figures, with a Marvel Figure factory classic shellhead. I post on the CMFC blog a lot, so a big hi to Bagman, Ted, Bob, Thor8, John, Mighty Marvel, Leigh, Sinister Venom, Pirate Adam, Jacadoo, Mad Thinker, Larry S, mgf, CBR Beast, Ken, Tino, Blake, Grim, Jinx, Toon, Max, Gremlin, Dan, Rich, um, memory now failing me.. and anyone else I have argued with…

My favourite artist almost since my very first comic book back in 1976 is Sal Buscema. In the 1990s I wrote to him and he very kindly replied with a note and head sketch of the Hulk. If that’s not a class act, I don’t know what is. A wonderful artist and a lovely man. One of the my favourite possessions.

The bench under the Treasuries. This is a mess but has a Factory X Iron Man helmet, an old Wolverine model, a Bowen Dr. Doom, a Galactus from the old Surfer animated series, etc. It also has the Spidey model I spoke of, sitting on an obscure speaker. (Yes, there’s a CD player and speakers in there somewhere!)

This is the shelf under the Spider-Man artwork. It has all my FF and Hulk comic books, alongside a lot of Captain America items. There’s a few other items including 2000AD figures I modified into little statues.

My life-size busts with a Sal Buscema Spider-Man standee that I bought on Hollywood Blvd. You can’t really see from this, but the shelves below have many hundreds of UK Marvel reprint comic books from the 1970s, 2000AD c.1979-1982 and an assortment of other UK annuals, magazines and books. There’s a framed scroll of Spectacular Spider-Man #200 (Sal B again) to the right.

The 1975, ’76 and ’77 Marvel calendars and, beneath, some early issues of a British comic called Captain Britain, which first came out late 1976. I loved this comic book as a child and went right off the character when he had the costume change to his present outfit.

Some conversions I made years ago that sit on a shelf under the Cap Britain comic books.

And these last two photos show the busts sitting atop the UK comics/ annuals, etc.

I kept the best for last: my No-Prize from Stan!!!

You can’t see all the comic books. There are a couple of shelf units to the right of the reading chair I missed. Still, you get a good sense of the layout from the photos, I think. (Although it does seem messier in the photos, somehow!)

My name is David Dougherty from Florida. I am honored to be featured on Shelf Porn. I designed this room with this day in mind. I used to collect comics during the 1980s, but I went into hibernation when we entered the era of various variant metallic-inked hologram covers for the first issue of each title. My uncle got me into comics when he gave me his run of Amazing Spider-Man (issues #6 – #68) to read as a kid. What a way to start an obsession! I started up again in 2005 when I had a foothold in a successful career with disposable income. Only this time I had a different perspective. I didn’t want to collect comics that would stay in boxes hidden from me in the darkness. I wanted to collect comic-related items that represented the comics that I was still purchasing but donating instead of keeping. I wanted something I could look at every day and enjoy.

I converted my third bedroom into this “trophy room.” There are sixty-four 16 sq. in. glass cubes filled with statues primarily from DC and Marvel. The three interior walls are covered top to bottom in original art that I have compiled. My long boxes, extra art, and remaining statues are in storage hoping to one day find their way into the arms of a caring owner.

This is my third setup for my collection as it has grown over the years, and I have learned that presentation goes a long way. I’ve had many of these same pieces displayed in wood or black shelving and it did not create the same impact on visitors.

Firestorm is my favorite DC character. I am thankful for friends with special talents that have allowed me honor Ronnie Raymond. If you look at his introduction to the Justice League in the 1980s, he is a much more powerful character than he is typically given credit for and criminally under-utilized.

From the historic comic that introduced the world to the Justice League of America… a statue based on the cover of The Brave & The Bold #28 by Mike Sekowsky and Murphy Anderson (March, 1960). It took me forever to find this piece intact. Most of the originals were broken or cracked to some degree during shipping. I purchased three before this one and each one arrived in pieces. ☹

This is my favorite piece…the one that I grab first if my house is on fire. It is #8 in the production line. “Kraven’s Last Hunt” (also known as “Fearful Symmetry”) was my favorite Spider-Man storyline as a kid and I think it still holds up today.

Long live the Independents! I think Invincible is the best superhero comic since the early run of Amazing Spider-Man. I am also a big Cassie Hack fan and I love this custom conversion. Hack/Slash is the only comic book that I still collect, but I give away the trades to readers that I am trying to recruit onto the title.

Batman Confidential issues #17 – #21 with the unparalleled art of Kevin Maguire. No one can match his facial expressions. I think I read this run in trade paperback once a month. I bet Maguire could pull off a one-shot without dialogue and still tell a gripping story.

This is the wall piece that gets the most attention obviously. Again, the framing enhances the art. It’s great that Grimm Fairy Tales has introduced a goth-twist to the classic Charles Lutwidge Dodgson story.

Did I mention I was a huge Hack/Slash fan? Dan Brereton was just a pleasure to hang out with at a convention I attended where his work was commissioned. On the right, is a page from the original artist for the first volume of the ongoing title, Emily Stone. She will be missed.

Everyone has a grail piece and this one is mine. Alan Davis did the art on my favorite comic book run for Excalibur in the late ’80s. This is my favorite cover from that run because I am a big admirer of Kitty Pryde.

In 1988, I mowed lawns as a young lad to save up to buy this 4 ft. x 4 ft. poster of all the characters from the Marvel Universe at the long-forgotten Comic Cafe. I had it laminated to preserve it. They don’t make posters like they used to…

Here is my Daredevil corner. He’s a lawyer, I’m a lawyer. He’s blind, I wear glasses to read. He’s a superhero, I do community service. The similarities are endless. Right underneath these two Hard Hero statues are the red and white Elektra statues from Sideshow and the Marvel Milestones Daredevil statue crouching on top of a gothic building.

This was once part of my brother’s childhood furniture and now it sits in the rear of this room as a complimentary piece to display more statues, my hardcovers, and my trade paperbacks. Did you notice Harvey Birdman? How could I not pull the trigger on that one.

Hi, my name is Neal Bishop. I’ve been collecting comics since 1991, and toys since around 1998. The thing that really got me into toys was Marvel Legends; as you can see, that’s my primary collection. This is a bit of a bittersweet thing; I’ve been meaning to put my comic room on Shelf Porn for a while, and I took the pictures a few months ago; since then, I got a new job, and moved from Atlanta, GA to Charlotte, NC. So the room as it’s pictured doesn’t even exist any more. Still, I wanted to share my collection, as it was best displayed.

First of all, I’ve noticed a lot of people on here either have a huge trade and hardcover collection, or just say their collection is stuffed away in a closet somewhere. I’m a bagger and boarder, always have been, and I’m lucky enough to have the room to display my collection out in the room. I love putting my new comics in their place in the collection. You’ll also see some posters, signed by artists I’ve met at various cons.

Moving on to the shelves, you see the Marvel Legends and DC Universe Classics. I love the 6” scale; it’s by far my favorite.

One of my favorite things has to be my Captain America and the Avengers arcade game. I played this every time I went to the arcade when I was younger, and I searched ebay for years looking for a reasonably priced machine. I finally found it about two years ago, and I think it really brings that extra bit into the room.

More drawer boxes, with odds and ends, my Mighty Muggs collection, and some DC packaged figures.

I’m primarily a Marvel guy in my collecting, X-Men in particular, but I’m also a Green Lantern fan. I’ve built myself a little collection of various Green Lantern toys.

I do have a few trades & hardcovers in addition to the regular issues; I also have a weakness for the kid’s toys, the Spider-Man and Friends and DC Superfriends. They’re just too adorable!

The last bit of my collection is the smaller figures, particularly Superhero Squad and Minimates. I love the way they capture the essence of the characters in the small and cutesy versions.

And sadly, as I was saying earlier, I did have a move recently. Right now, this is how my collection looks, in a 4×14 storage unit……

But I’m sure the next place, it’ll be back, bigger than ever.

In our last edition of Shelf Porn, Eric Jaskolka shared his massive collection of X-Men merchandise — action figures, jackets, Hot Wheels, cups, statues, toys — this guy has it all. But several folks in the comments section asked about his comics.

“Many have asked to see the comic book collection,” he said over email. “I have attached pictures of the boxes as most people, like myself, keep the comics bagged and board and put away.” He also included more shots of some of his merchandise, including hats, toys and even a Wolverine pizza box. Initially he asked if I could add these to the original post, but hey, we’re talking about the X-Men here — how could I not do a spinoff? If the first post was Uncanny X-Men, consider this one New Mutants or X-Factor.

My name is Eric Jaskolka and I have been collecting comics since 1989 and then started collecting X-Men toys in 1991. As you can see I have a HUGE X-Men collection, unfortunately I don’t have enough room to display everything (I have variant figures, multi-packs, trading cards, posters, etc. packed away), but I think the pics are a great representation. I also have thousands of X-Men comics.

Items range from licensed, boot leg, prototypes, unreleased prototypes, items from many different countries. Categories include toys, food, food premiums, jewelry, sporting goods, costumes, statues.

I have been featured on local news stations and wrote an article for Tomart several years ago.

Hi! Harold Yoingco here. I’m 21 from the Philippines. I usually do my browsing through the internet for some inspiring photos. Shelf porn is one amazing blog post that inspired me to.. Well collect more and make my own.

Here’s a view of my table where you can see I have a few figures Union Jack and Wolverine (Hammer files). These two are the most favorite figures of all time. I seldom collect figures. As you can see on the right side there’s an original sketch of Ken aka Gorilla man from Agents of Atlas. Sketched by the artist Carlo Pagulayan.

I’m from Newfoundland & Labrador, off the east coast of Canada. I’m a cartoonist and comic book instructor(for over 10 years) at the Anna Templeton Centre. I even owned my own comic book store in the early 90′s called “The Daily Planet.” I’m assembling this library to be donated in the future to some worthy institution. I’m a big believer in paper comics as digital just can’t deliver the same experience as a real comic book. Oh and co-founder with Paul Tucker of the Breakdown Comic Jam held every month here in St. John’s…the oldest town in North America.

This library is comprised almost entirely of hardcover collections, archives and graphic novels. I’ve been working on it for almost 17 years. I do allow local comic artists to use it for research only and I use it for my Cartooning & Comics course and for our comic jams.

Hi I’m Ian Wells 24 from England. You can catch me on www.twitter.com/IanWells87. Shelf Porn on Robot 6 was one of the greatest discoveries I made on the internet. I’ve been collecting comics and comic related memorabilia for bout 10 years. My 3 main stays are Wolverine, Daredevil and Iron Fist. For some reason I decided to do this first pic in black and white. A homage if you like to the noir comics,books and films I enjoy.

So this is the view you get upon entering my room. On the left ‘The tried and trusted Jim Lee’ as it was refered to by the guy I brought it from. On the right like it needs an introduction, it’s one of the most iconic images in Daredevil, Marvel and Frank Miller history. Also in view are my Quadrophenia and Dirty Harry canvas’s.

More wall art here. Brilliant Bullitt poster one of the best movie posters of all time. If your a Wolverine fan like me you gotta have a Wolverine vs Sabertooth image somewhere on display. Beneath that we have super Frankie Lampard proudly wearing the blue of Chelsea FC.

(04) Here is the unit containing my comic storage and my TV. As you can see im cramped for space. There are 3 boxes on the floor, 3 on the middle level and two on the top. Also on the top are my trading card binders, my Daredevil Omnibus and volster case containing my most prized issues.

More visual evidence of my cramped space. These 3 boxes contain the main bulk of my collection. At the time of writing I am only 16 issues off of completing Wolverine Vol 1.

Ah the contents of my voslter case. They kinda make me proud. When I first started collecting I was just a student so first appearance issues and milestones were just a pipe dream. Still missing a Daredevil #168 and The Holy Grail for Wolverine fans a Incredible Hulk #181.

What I like to call my refererance books and a bottle of Duff, they were all out of Flaming Moe’s.

My desk where many a time I have tried to jump start a career in comics to no avail. Funny story about the Wolverine statue. I paid absolutely nothing for it. It was meant to be the limited edition one with the variant painting, but they sent the regular one by mistake. They said it was a mistake on their behalf and that I could keep it, with my money in the post back to me.

My trades and DVD boxsets. Looking at previous Shelf Porns I realised I have way fewer trades than everyone. But I m not one for picking up a monthly title then months later the same story in trade. I find some titles read better in trade format though.

Some of the aforementioned titles that read better in Trade. Bendis’ Daredevil, Secret Warriors and The Ultimates.

These are the latest additions to my collection at the time of writing. I grew upon the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and will always have room for them somewhere.

Now time for the most pornographic part of my collection. (See what I did there)? It’s my top shelf full of statues, busts and action figures. My all time favourite being the John Byrne inspired Wolverine.

More Daredevil orientated end of the shelf. I need a Daredevil Yellow or Elektra to really complete this end I think.

More assorted figures. Love the Marvel Origin range they did a few years back. In the last 3 pictures I done a rought calculation and came to this conclusion; On display there are the following: Wolverines-44, Daredevils-12, Iron Fists-7, Sabertooths-8, Elektras-3, Kingpins-2, Deadpools-2, Sentrys-2, Luke Cages-2 and a few others. Sad that I counted I know.

Hi, my name is Tim Barklay and I’m a High School Chaplain from Moree, NSW, Australia. I’ve been collecting comics for about 6 years and have been working on my Games room/library for about a year now. My collections aren’t huge or impressive, but I’m pretty stoked on the room, including the many self-built elements. as you will see, I really dig building things, and I’m a total nerd. onto the photos!

my games room/library is a converted garage, and would have been the perfect pool room if it weren’t for the two beams in the middle.

my library wall. my next project will be building uniform, modular bookshelves to cover the wall. note the start trek bean bag.

my comics unit. this was the first build for the room, and is basically an old bookcase and an old entertainment unit recycled. my single issue collection is dominated by x-men books – Uncanny, x-men, x-force, x-factor, etc.

title dividers. the agent X issue in the background was purchased purely for the cover – its explicitly implicit.

PVCs on top of my art drawers. front row are marvel superhero squad, then Homestar runner figurines and finally the simpsons.

soft toys, including the set of Star Wars pancakes. also note the lightsaber chopsticks, which are pretty well awesome.

mostly marvel trades. I scored the full set of Asterix comics at a garage sale for $20.

graphic novels. the bottom shelf contains a bunch of 2000ads, art books and games workshop books. some standouts that you may not have read are Street angel by Jim Rugg and Brian Mancura, terry Moore’s Echo, anything by michael Allen Nelson, groom lake, phonogram by Kerion Gillen, Jeff Parker’s underground, Bottomless Belly Button by Dash Shaw, daytripper by Moon and Ba and Jeff Smith’s RASL.

my Cubees from cubeecraft.com. I love these toys. they look great, you get the satisfaction of making them and they’re free.

I don’t have a huge action figure collection, because i mainly just by them when they’re on sale, which isn’t very often. the black and white sin city figures are the exception, just because they are ridiculously good looking.

some of my Games workshop miniatures. I don’t really play, except for the skirmish game Mordheim, but I dig the hobby. I’ve won some local awards, but don’t have the time to paint anything up to national competing standard.

I’m a huge Ramones fan and when I came across this Joey Ramone figure I had to have it.

this is the artwork that’s on my corkboard – its a small version of a large, poster I did for my brother-in-Law’s wedding. it’s a portrait of the bride and groom. they say artists are their own worst critics, but I’m actually pretty proud of this piece.

as you’ll see over the rest of the photos, i like to make stuff. often I’ll see something cool in a shop or online and think “I could build that”. in this instance, it’s a TARDIS USB hub.

Hand painted Worf standup and Scratch built R2-D2 rubbish bin. the hardest part was getting his head a perfectly smooth dome. total build cost: $15.

portrait of Joey Ramone. i’d been wanting to play around with charcoals for a while, and Joey was quite a black and white person, both physically and in his personality, so it made sense. I got his neck wrong and tried to fix it, but to no avail.

scratch built NES controller coffee table. this was actually a pretty simple build. total build cost: $24

my latest build and I think my coolest – a digital pinball machine. the playfield monitor is 24″, with a 19″ backglass. the arcade buttons are wired to a kenboard encoder, and the whole thing is run by a computer running pinball emulation software called Visual Pinball and a front end called HyperPin.

Fritz here. Just thought I’d share these images of my comics on display at a local bookstore in Seoul, Korea. Its a new bookstore that aims to show different kinds of books, graphic novels being one of them. The bookstore is called Thanks Books, located in the hippest part of Seoul.

All the major titles have been translated into Korean, The Dark Knight Returns, Batman Year One, Killing Joke, From Hell, Watchmen etc. If you look closely you can see foreign lettering… that’s Korean!

Also, I was able to show A, B, C, D, E of Todd Klein’s lettering series posters. Specifically, Alphabets of Desire with Alan Moore, Before You Read This with Neil Gaiman, Comic Book Dreams with Alex Ross, Drawing the Sword with JH Williams III and Each Beast at the Feast with Mark Buckingham. All nicely framed and on display on the counter!

With all the major superheroes hitting the big screens all over the world there is ALOT of interest in American comics here in Korea! We’re having a Comics Trading Day on the 14th of May and should have a big crowd of comics enthusiasts!
