‘Superman: Red Son’ Batman statue is ready to spark a rebellion

Sideshow Collectibles completes its Superman: Red Son collection with the official unveiling of its Batman statue based on the 2003 DC Comics miniseries by Mark Millar, Dave Johnson and Kilian Plunkett.

The comic is set in an alternate timeline in which Superman’s rocket ship lands in the Ukraine, and he’s raised to become the champion of the Soviet Union. Batman, meanwhile, is orphaned as a child when the KGB murders his parents, and grows up to become a symbol of rebellion and the most wanted man in Russia.

Wonder Woman joins Superman in Sideshow’s ‘Red Son’ statue line

Although she’s been teased for months, Sideshow Collectibles has at last officially unveiled Wonder Woman, the next statue in its Superman: Red Son collection.

The “Premium Format” figure (that is, “non-articulated”) is of course based on the 2003 miniseries by Mark Millar, Dave Johnson and Kilian Plunkett, set in an alternate timeline in which Superman’s rocket ship lands in the Ukraine, and he’s raised to become the champion of the Soviet Union. After meeting the Comrade of Steel, Princess Diana leaves Themyscira to expand the influence of the Soviet Union.

Sideshow’s introduces its ‘Superman: Red Son’ statue, comrades

Sideshow Collectibles returns to the alternative reality of the 2003 miniseries by Mark Millar, Dave Johnson and Kilian Plunkett with its new Superman: Red Son statue.

The first in a new collection of “Premium Format” (that is, “non-articulated”) figures based on the Elseworlds comic, the red- and gray- clad Man of Steel stands 25 inches tall atop the symbol of the Soviet Union. Wonder Woman and Batman figures will follow.
