EXCLUSIVE: Captain Marvel, Sam Wilson & More Celebrate Fourth of July with Marvel Games
Although she’s been teased for months, Sideshow Collectibles has at last officially unveiled Wonder Woman, the next statue in its Superman: Red Son collection.
The “Premium Format” figure (that is, “non-articulated”) is of course based on the 2003 miniseries by Mark Millar, Dave Johnson and Kilian Plunkett, set in an alternate timeline in which Superman’s rocket ship lands in the Ukraine, and he’s raised to become the champion of the Soviet Union. After meeting the Comrade of Steel, Princess Diana leaves Themyscira to expand the influence of the Soviet Union.
Sideshow Collectibles returns to the alternative reality of the 2003 miniseries by Mark Millar, Dave Johnson and Kilian Plunkett with its new Superman: Red Son statue.
The first in a new collection of “Premium Format” (that is, “non-articulated”) figures based on the Elseworlds comic, the red- and gray- clad Man of Steel stands 25 inches tall atop the symbol of the Soviet Union. Wonder Woman and Batman figures will follow.
If, in the more than four years since its premiere on iTunes, you never got around to watching the 12-part motion-comic adaptation of Superman: Red Son, now’s your chance — for free: The fan site Superman Homepage notes that Warner Bros. has released the entire serial on YouTube, so you can judge for yourself how the 2003 Elseworlds miniseries by Mark Millar, Dave Johnson, Kilian Plunkett and others makes the transition.
Fair warning, though: It’s spread over 25 videos, and this 2009 adaptation may seem a little rough when compared to some more recent motion comics. But, hey, it’s free!
