Task Force Rad Squad Archives - Robot 6 @ Comic Book Resources
Last year Caleb Goellner, Buster Moody and Ryan Hill combined their love for things like Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles into a comic about friendship, alien monsters and giant robots. But the second issue of Task Force Rad Squad has something the first issue didn’t — kitties. Giant mutant killer kitties.
Goellner and Moody — who are flying without Hill this issue because he’s busy with IDW’s Judge Dredd: Mega City 2 miniseries — are once again offering the digital comic using a “pay what you want” model. You can download it from Gumroad right now, along with the first issue if you missed it. Goellner told me they’ll have print copies of the issue available at C2E2 in a couple of weeks. (His Mermaid: Evolution comic is also available as a “pay what you want” digital comic as well).
Task Force Rad Squad is a comic about friendship. And alien monsters. And friends coming together to fight alien monsters inside a giant robot.
If you grew up watching Power Rangers, or are at least familiar with them, you’ll probably dig this comic. Creators Caleb Goellner, Buster Moody and Ryan Hill have taken the concept and spun it on its head, creating something that shows their love for the Power Rangers while also being unique unto itself. The trio is selling it online, both digitally and in print, and took the time to answer my questions about the series, its inspiration and their approach to selling it.
Hello and welcome to What Are You Reading?, our look at what comics and other things we’ve been perusing lately. Today our special guests are Caleb Goellner, Buster Moody and Ryan Hill, the creative team of Task Force Rad Squad, the hot new comic find of 2013. Especially if you were ever a Power Rangers fan. Or even if you weren’t, as Moody and Hill’s art is just kind of wonderful on its own. Our old friend and former colleague Graeme says it “pretty much does for Power Rangers what Jeffrey Brown’s Incredible Change-Bots does for Transformers,” and that’s a very apt description. You can download it yourself here, and pay whatever you think is fair.
